Visit the website

The Biopolis Shared Facilities (BSF) was established by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in August 2004 to support the R&D needs of the biomedical scientific community.

BSF occupies a 7,000 sqm purpose-built facility and provides research support and scientific services. Through centralisation of the services, BSF seeks to maximise usage of key scientific equipment as well as support services. BSF promises Professional, Friendly and Prompt service.

BSF Flow Cytometry delivers professional expertise and skills in handling cell sorting technology. The facility is equipped with two Becton-Dickinson (BD) Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorter (FACS) FACSAria for cell sorting and one BD LSR II for cell analysis. The facility also specializes in polychromatic flow cytometry cell analysis and sorting, offering:

  • Suggestions on experimental design and setup
  • Analysis using FlowJo, ModFit and FACSDiva software for histogram overlay and statistical analyses

Some of the common techniques performed in this facility include:

  • Sorting by fluorescent proteins and conjugated fluorophores
  • Clonal cell selection and deposition into well plates
  • Side population analyis and sorting of cancer stem cells and bone marrow cells
  • DNA Cell Cycle Analysis
  • Polychromatic Flow Cytometric analysis with 7 colours
  • Apoptosis Studies using Annexin-V
