JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the High End Instrumentation Sales Manager, as High End Instrumentation Support Specialist, North West Europe, you will be responsible for product technical demonstrations and application technical support of the BD FACSAria and BD Influx cell sorters and the BD LSR Fortessa.
You will act as the company’s key specialist for flow cytometric cell sorting in North West Europe and directly support the sales team in the selling process through consultative customer support. You will be actively involved in the development of new market and sales opportunities for cell sorting. You will participate in technical discovery and testing of innovative product enhancements and improvements to current sorter platforms to enable quick access to and growth of opportunistic market segments.
You will build and maintain a close network with key opinion leaders and BD customers in the field and represent BD at local and international meetings and events. By doing so, you will enable the North West Europe regional selling organization in selling cell-sorters and high-end flow analyzers and support the BD customer community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Marketing Support Role
- Support country based high-end sorter sales specialists in the technical closure of the selling process. As specialist you will provide technical and application based support in a consultative approach.
- Perform high quality, specialized product demonstrations to user communities and customers, on site in the BD Demonstration Laboratory in Erembodegem, Belgium or at customer sites if required.
- Assist the marketing function in developing marketing strategies and tactics to access and develop new cell sorter sales opportunities in existing and new markets.
- Assist in the organization of high-end sorter user meetings by providing both product and application content for the meeting as well as first class cell sorting expertise.
- Represent BD Biosciences at local and international scientific meetings and trade shows.
- Build networks and maintains relationship with key opinion leaders in important cell analysis and cell sorting market areas such as, but not limited to, immune system modulation, regenerative medicine and stem cell research, and environmental research.
- Act as subject matter expert for high-end flow instrumentation across the region.
- Support the Service and Support Teams in delivering first class support to high-end flow cytometry customers by providing expert support to both internal and external customers.
Market Development Role
- Serve as a Cell Therapy Enablement group member representing Europe in the cell therapy enablement program and actively driving implementation of tactical plans to move BD forward in this field
- Perform technical discovery and feasibility studies to enable new applications
- Support early stage testing of product enhancements, improvements and prototypes to support the product development teams in Seattle and San Jose R&D, including but not limited to bio-safety and cell therapy enablement and next generation instruments.
- Assist in the product technical assessment of new and/ or competitive technology.
- Provide support and guidance to European sales and marketing to achieve goals of cell therapy enablement projects as well as overall cell sorting market strategy.

Knowledge and Skills
The successful candidate will possess the highest quality personal characteristics and training to have a significant impact on BD Biosciences business. This person will have a compelling desire promote the company’s technology and products. Further more the person will also have the following characteristics:
- Expert in flow cytometry, specifically on cell sorting.
- Expert experience in operating BD FACS, BD Influx and/ or other cell sorters.
- Excellent customer facing and presentation skills
- Keen interpersonal and listening skills.
- Flexible and result driven mindset.
- Ability to act decisively under pressure.
- Has build a personal network within the flow cytometry/ cell sorting community
- Team player, collaborative in cross-functional group settings.
Education and Experience
The candidate must have the following minimum qualifications for this position:
- At least five years of experience in the life science industry or academia
- Strong scientific background and excellent working knowledge of biological sciences.
- Preferred MS or PhD in a related life science discipline.
- Profound and demonstrable experience with operating fluorescence activated cell sorters
- Up to date on currently applied technologies and systems capabilities in the flow cytometry market.
- Experience in working with multidisciplinary teams is important.
- Experience with working in an international environment
- Fluent in the English language.
- Ability to travel to customer and non customer sites, trade shows, conferences and events.
